Role Overview
Join a dynamic team working on a high-impact initiative focused on Medicare Advantage. In this role, you will help build and review trend forecast models, analyze detailed healthcare claims data, and develop studies that support financial forecasting and strategic planning. You'll apply analytical skills to work with a team to solve complex business challenges, create client-ready deliverables, and contribute to improved healthcare outcomes for Medicare beneficiaries.
Remoteand Office Requirement
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. for your location. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities- Build and maintain analytical and actuarial models to support financial forecasting and analysis
- Extract, aggregate, and interpret complex healthcare claims data for trend identification and problem‑solving
- Perform quantitative analysis on utilization and cost data to uncover key drivers
- Diagnose root causes of issues and propose practical, data‑driven solutions
- Create visually compelling, accurate, and client‑ready deliverables that tell a clear story
- Participate in client communications, manage questions, and contribute to relationship building
- Prepare reports, schedule project tasks, and coordinate deliverables in a fast‑paced environment
- Apply creative problem‑solving and critical thinking to complex challenges with accountability and precision
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Passed one or more actuarial exams
- Two or more years of actuarial experience
- Experience working with formulas, calculations, charts, and graphs in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to quickly learn and use computer software tools effectively
- Ability to complete new analyses by determining necessary steps without detailed instruction
- Located in or willing to relocate to Minnesota and able to work out of the Optum Eden Prairie, MN office
- Experience with SAS, SQL, Python, or Power BI
- Actuarial experience and/or exposure in dealing with health care claims or pharmacy claims (understanding of costs, expected claims, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, pharmacy terminology)
- Experience working in a consultancy or healthcare field
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal communication
- Proven analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills
- Flexibility to manage changing priorities, requirements, and deadlines

Benefits and CompensationPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. Salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full‑time employment. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The company complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
