Associate Finance Director – Strategic Finance & Pricing

At Optum, we're transforming healthcare through data, technology, and innovation. As an Associate Finance Director, you'll play a critical role in shaping pricing strategy and commercial decision-making for a portfolio of healthcare financial services products.

This is a highly visible, strategic finance role where you'll partner with Product, Sales, Strategy, Operations, and executive leadership to influence growth, profitability, and market competitiveness. You'll help design pricing frameworks, evaluate complex deal opportunities, and develop financial insights that drive key business decisions.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead pricing strategy across a portfolio of healthcare financial services products, balancing growth objectives, profitability targets, and competitive positioning
  • Partner with Product, Sales, Strategy, Operations, and Legal teams to develop and optimize pricing structures, including subscription, transaction-based, and value-based pricing models
  • Build and maintain sophisticated financial models to evaluate deal economics, profitability, and long-term business performance
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on pricing and deal structuring, providing recommendations to senior leaders and executive stakeholders
  • Develop pricing governance frameworks, discount guidelines, and approval processes that support scalable and profitable growth
  • Conduct market and competitive analyses to identify pricing opportunities and inform strategic decision-making
  • Analyze product economics, cost-to-serve, and profitability drivers, translating data into actionable business recommendations
  • Evaluate contract structures and financial risk, including shared savings arrangements, performance guarantees, and utilization-based pricing models
  • Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analyses to assess the impact of pricing changes, utilization trends, and product bundling strategies
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure pricing strategies are scalable and aligned with business processes

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in financial analysis, pricing, deal desk, or strategy roles, with demonstrated ownership of complex financial models and business cases
  • Proven experience developing and executing pricing strategies for technology‑enabled services or transaction‑based business models
  • Proven advanced financial modeling and analytics skills, including ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured, quantitative analyses
  • Experience evaluating deal economics and contract structures, including risk‑adjusted returns and scenario‑based outcomes
  • Demonstrated solid business acumen with the ability to connect pricing decisions to market dynamics, product strategy, and financial performance
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels, including Sales, Product, and senior leadership
  • Proven excellent communication skills, with experience presenting pricing recommendations and deal financials to executive audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (financial modeling, scenario analysis); experience with data tools (SQL, Power BI, Tableau)
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • Experience in healthcare financial services, revenue cycle management (RCM), or payment solutions, including familiarity with payer/provider economics
