Summary of Occupational Therapist

Job Description

The OT will be responsible for providing outpatient Occupational Therapy services for Odom Rehab in an ethical and professional manner, in accordance with each specific state guidelines. The employee shall also perform such duties as are customarily performed by an employee in a similar position and such other and unrelated services and duties as may be assigned from time to time by Odom Rehab.

Functions

The essential functions are a general description of responsibilities, duties and tasks that are expected of this position. It is not meant to be an all‑encompassing list. Additional duties may be assigned as business or client needs dictate.

Provide occupational therapy services
  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Establish appropriate Plans of Care (POC) for patients outlining the path to achieve the patient’s goals; reassess periodically to keep goals relevant.
  • Oversee the treatment provided by the OTA based on established POC.
  • Update POC as necessary for the patient's care.
  • Develop a discharge plan for patients once completing their occupational therapy.
  • Document patient’s treatment daily based on established and accepted practice guidelines.
  • Submit appropriate charges daily for occupational therapy services provided that date.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the physician and medical staff regarding patients’ current status or change in status.
  • Assist in developing and updating Odom Rehab treatment protocols on an as needed basis.
  • Actively participate in Odom Rehab staff meetings.
  • Track and complete Continuing Education Credits and renewal steps necessary to keep current on Occupational Therapy licensure.
  • Maintain an active Occupational Therapy license.

Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program with a degree in Occupational Therapy and current MN State Occupational Therapy Licensure.
  • One (1) year of experience as an Occupational Therapist (preferred).
  • Recent/previous work experience in primary health care setting (preferred).
