Architecture Position for Cloud Migration

Project Scope / Components:
This entire project is a large-scale cloud migration and data migration from on-prem. This is a project that’s already started for OptumRX, and they are looking to add an additional Architect to a team of five. While the project is ongoing, they will focus on architecting/solutioning new cloud infrastructure for the business as well as ensuring that the data needs is being synced.

“Infinity Streams” is the data streaming platform built by the Architecture in Kafka (in production currently), they need a person to support this from an onshore perspective.

• Cloud Migration
• Data Migration platform support

Team Size & Breakdown: 5 other architects + offshore support

Development Methodology:
Agile – 2 week sprints

High-Level Individual Duties:

60% Hands on (helping teams in production) – Kafka and cloud migration

40% Work with the business & provide solutions

Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools):

• Azure – Looking more for breadth and depth (data migration, containerization & orchestration)
• Kafka – Needs to have working with servers / supporting cloud native apps in production
• Dev Ops – There is a team in India supporting these activities but this person would complement them

Nice to have:

• Java / Springboot (C#/.NET is also OK but less preferred à Kafka is more important)

An individual in the Architecture job family is a strategic resource for United Health Group. This individual could be involved across many aspects of architecture, design, build, engineering and implementation of technical solutions and capabilities providing technical leadership. Responsible for communicating overall architecture vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs across various levels in the organization to gain buy-in. Will provide recommendations and technical guidance to improve performance, reliability, and reusability within the constraints of budget, resource and business dependencies.

In base and mid-level roles, engages across teams in a capacity that ranges from assisting on in-flight initiatives, up to technical briefings and demonstrations of new technologies across the organization. In senior level roles, leads business solutions, capabilities, and is a solid influencer that engages with client executives and stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

Present and evaluate design solutions objectively and facilitate conflict resolution

Ensure solutions developed across the organization are aligned to enterprise architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet financial targets (cost and benefits)

Communicates common architecture vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs across various levels in the organization to gain buy-in from stakeholders

Provides recommendations and technical guidance to improve reusability within the constraints of budget, resource and business dependencies, emphasizing common solutions

Lead a small team of solution architects for pharmacy services team

Lead and drive next generation technology adoption to Azure cloud and emerging technology standards

Build end-to-end solution plans in the form of roadmaps that define the ideal and future state systems solution, scope of solution initiatives, solution delivery sequencing through architecture transition states, and assumptions and risks

Solid influencer that engages with stakeholders

Interacts with technical and business senior leadership

Ability to prioritize and balance multiple priorities and initiatives

Design, Develop and build proof of concept on latest technologies and assist the development team in their cloud adoption

Create, implement and communicate technology strategies that anticipate future business needs and meet current business requirement

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of software development experience working on open source, commercially available software

5+ years of experience in a large enterprise in a hands-on architectural role
