The Purchasing Manager is a key contributor to Zinpro’s success through leadership of the global sourcing and purchasing activities of the company. Responsibilities include leading a team of purchasing professionals, sourcing raw materials and negotiating supplier contracts, purchasing capital equipment, and developing strategies to manage expenses and hedge financial risk. Success in this position requires outstanding leadership, experience sourcing commodities and other materials, an understanding of market dynamics, sound business judgment, negotiating skills, and the ability manage business relationships with suppliers.
This role is based at Zinpro Corporate Headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
Essential Functions
- Leads a team purchasing professionals in all aspects of the job including buying activities, hiring, professional growth & development, and mentoring.
- Owns and manages the strategy, development, implementation, and execution of sourcing and purchasing activities.
- Actively participates in the leadership of the broader supply chain team.
- Aligns to Zinpro operational and strategic objectives, including participating in cross-functional business teams and leveraging KPI’s to guide strategic decisions.
- Maintains awareness of current market trends and developments to take advantage of all opportunities offered to improve quality of service. Reports relevant market changes to management.
- Develops accurate budgeting for purchased materials; drives productivity and optimizes spend; tracks cost trends.
- Establishes primary and secondary suppliers and ensures adequate long-term supply of all raw materials.
- Negotiates supply contracts and capital purchases.
- Manages a supplier quality program and quality of materials to mitigate risk.
- Manages a vendor audit program to ensure compliance with Zinpro ISO standards.
- Conducts frequent visits to Zinpro manufacturing facilities to understand production needs and limitations, and to ensure understanding of material requirements, packaging, and related matters.
- Evaluates performance and hosts a Quarterly Business Review (Q ) with strategic vendors.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated leadership excellence
- Experience managing a purchasing team
- ERP Experience
Preferred:
- Master of Business Administration
- 15+ years of experience sourcing in a manufacturing environment
- SAP experience
Schedule Requirements
This position is expected to work within core business hours and occasionally requires participation in after-hours work with domestic and international stakeholders. This position is hybrid and on-site 3 days per week.
Travel Requirements
This position is expected to travel approximately 15-20% of the time, primarily to Zinpro manufacturing facilities. Additional travel to visit suppliers or attend conferences will be required as needed and includes the possibility of international travel.
Salary Range
The base salary listed is a range. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
