Responsibilities- Perform machining operations in accordance with MTS Machine Shop procedures and work instructions.
- Set up machines in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance as required or apparent.
- Maintain a clean and well‑organized work area.
- Interpret MTS machining prints and meet print requirements; use the Machine Shop routing system.
- Inspect and verify dimensions to required accuracy.
- Provide constructive feedback to area supervisor on quality issues, trends and workload; assist in resolving scheduling and prioritization issues.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime and to meet demands of other workstations.
- Interact and communicate effectively with all colleagues, including supervisors; work as part of a team.
- Operate and maintain equipment safely; identify safety hazards and involve appropriate parties to resolve.
- Initiate creative and/or innovative ideas and demonstrate willingness to implement them.
- Cross‑train in multiple disciplines such as CNC Lathe and Mill, Cylindrical Grinding, Surface Grinding, and Manual Mill and Lathe.
- Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.
- One year of trade school or three years of applicable experience in a machine shop environment.
- Understand and apply basic machining knowledge.
- Machining tolerances, measuring equipment, tooling selection, machine setup and operation.
- Common machining symbols on MTS prints.
- Understanding of material characteristics and proper machining techniques.
- Work from proven processes or work instructions to complete daily activities.
- Work holding and fixture use.
- Part inspection for tolerances, surface finish, hardness, and material.
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
