On second shift, quality does not get handed off to someone else. You inspect it, you document it, and for the last two hours of the night you are the only quality person on the floor.

Elucent Medical is a medical device company building surgical navigation technology for cancer surgery. Their systems turn standard surgical instruments into smart tools, so surgeons can locate and remove tissue with far more precision. Better precision leads to better outcomes for patients, which is the whole point of the work.

Capital equipment is manufactured on-site in Eden Prairie. Disposables are produced off-site by a contract manufacturer. The product you inspect on this shift is the equipment that ends up in operating rooms.

The Quality Technician on second shift keeps product moving and keeps it correct. You will handle receiving inspection, in-process and final inspection, electrical testing, and the documentation that has to be right before anything is released.

A significant part of this job is Nonconforming Material Reports. You will initiate them, manage them through to resolution, and work alongside investigators to put corrective solutions in place. Elucent is looking for someone who owns that process from start to finish instead of passing it along.

Second shift runs with a smaller crew, and from midnight to 2:00 AM you are the only quality person on site. That setup works well for someone who is comfortable making a call on their own, who asks good questions during the overlap hours, and who builds enough trust with the team that people know the answer is solid. Specific test procedures can be taught, so you do not need to walk in knowing them.

Follow-through is the part that has to come with you.

• Perform receiving inspection and preventative maintenance testing.
• Run electrical testing with a multimeter and inspect circuit boards. Specific test procedures can be taught on the job.
• Initiate and manage Nonconforming Material Reports, then partner with investigators to follow up and implement corrective solutions.
• Perform in-process and final inspection on components, sub-assemblies, and finished product.
• Review and approve job travelers, also known as Device History Records, before product release.
• Support administration of the electronic quality management system.
• Support quality systems documentation, procedure writing, and customer audit preparation as assigned.

• High school diploma plus two years of relevant medical device or ISO 13485 experience, or a two year degree.
• ISO 13485 experience preferred. ISO 9001 experience is acceptable.
• Electronics manufacturing knowledge preferred, along with solid electrical and mechanical testing technique.
• Familiarity with an electronic quality management system is a plus.

• This role is fully on-site in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Reliable transportation is required given the shift hours.
• Monday through Thursday, 10 hour shifts. The shift opens with a shift change handoff meeting.
• For the final two hours of each shift you are the only quality team member on site.
• Overtime is uncommon in Quality compared with the manufacturing technician roles.

This is a starting point rather than a ceiling. Technicians on this team have moved in a few directions:
