OverviewWe are seeking an Installation Inspector to oversee fiber optic installation activities across aerial, underground, and in-home environments. This is a field-based role focused on quality control, compliance, and real‑time coordination with construction teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
The Installation Inspector plays a key role in ensuring installations meet design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines while proactively identifying and mitigating field issues.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and report on aerial and underground fiber drop installations, as well as in-home installations
- Conduct field inspections to ensure construction aligns with design plans and specifications
- Investigate planned pathways ahead of construction crews to identify and resolve potential roadblocks
- Ensure fiber installations are properly placed, secured, and meet quality standards
- Represent the organization professionally in interactions with municipalities, contractors, and stakeholders
- Enforce compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Communicate schedule changes and field updates to supervisors and subcontractors
- Support quality assurance and quality control processes across installation activities
- Perform routine inspections of equipment, materials, and job sites
- Attend meetings with vendors, project managers, and stakeholders, including preconstruction meetings as required
- Travel locally to oversee multiple job sites throughout the day
- All other duties as assigned.
- Experience with aerial and underground fiber installation and inspection
- Understanding of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) environments and on-premises installations
- Strong knowledge of outside plant (OSP) construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel locally (and potentially overnight)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors full-time in varying field conditions
- Experience with horizontal directional drilling (HDD)
- Familiarity with fiber splicing concepts and practices
- Prior experience in quality control or inspection roles within telecom construction
- 100% field-based role (outdoor work environment)
- Daily travel between multiple job sites
- May require attendance at municipal or preconstruction meetings

- Hourly pay: $27.00 – $35.00 (DOE)
