Overview
C.H. Robinson is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our Transactional Revenue Management team, responsible for building and evolving a platform that delivers competitive, near-real-time pricing for shipping customers. You will partner with engineers, data scientists, and analysts to design and deliver scalable systems for cost estimation, pricing strategy configuration, and data-driven insights. The role emphasizes distributed system design, cloud-native development, and data-intensive applications, with a growing focus on AI-assisted and agentic solution development.
Location: This role can be based in MN, IL, and Kansas City.
Duties and Responsibilities- Design and deliver high-complexity, scalable solutions supporting near real-time decisioning systems
- Architect and evolve distributed systems, including microservices, RESTful APIs, and event-driven/streaming architectures
- Implement hybrid data storage strategies (relational and No
SQL) - Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to influence and evolve system architecture
- Independently drive system design decisions balancing scalability, reliability, performance, and cost
- Build and maintain applications using Python (backend services, data pipelines) and React (frontend)
- Develop and operate cloud-native solutions in Azure leveraging Kubernetes
- Design and implement data workflows using Airflow or DAG-based orchestration
- Utilize MongoDB or similar No
SQL systems and Snowflake or comparable analytical platforms - Own services and repositories end-to-end, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Break down complex initiatives, estimate delivery timelines, and proactively manage execution risks
- Implement strong testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end) and maintain high code quality
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate workflows and improve code quality
- Contribute to agentic and intelligent automation solutions for adaptive workflows
- Partner with data scientists and analysts to product ionize models and support experimentation frameworks
- Apply statistical thinking or data science concepts to improve system effectiveness where applicable
- Build strong collaborative relationships across engineering, product, data, and architecture
- Lead design discussions and code reviews; mentor and support other engineers
- Provide clear communication on progress, risks, and technical decisions
- 5+ years of experience designing and delivering production-grade software
- 5+ years of experience with Python backend services
- 5+ years of experience with React or modern frontend frameworks
- Experience building cloud-native applications (Azure preferred) with Kubernetes
- Experience with MongoDB (or similar) and Snowflake (or equivalent)
- Experience with data pipelines and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow)
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and distributed systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern Dev Ops practices
- Ability to independently own and deliver complex features or services
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools and building intelligent workflows
- Experience with agentic or LLM-based frameworks (Lang Chain/Lang Smith or similar) and orchestration tooling
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience partnering with data science teams to deliver production models
- Background in statistical modeling, experimentation, or data-driven decision systems
- Experience in pricing, logistics, or other high-scale transactional systems
- Strong communication skills to influence technical and product decisions
- Mentorship experience and contribution to team growth
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Data Dog, Prometheus, Grafana)
