Diesel Mechanic

Are you currently enrolled in a vocational diesel program and looking for a part time role? This opportunity for on the job training while you're in school is a great jump-starter for your career. While here you will work with the best in the field maintaining transportation vehicles and district equipment; making necessary repairs according to code or maintenance schedules so that vehicles and equipment are available and operate safely, effectively and efficiently.

Although your primary job will be as a diesel mechanic, the district will also train you to become a back-up bus driver to help fill in, on occasion, should the need arise.

POSITION:
Mechanic - Diesel

LOCATION:

Transportation

RATE OF PAY:  Pay Rate $36.48

EDUCATION /CERTIFICATION:

High school graduate or equivalent

Bus drivers training CDL Within first 3 months of employment required

Vocational technical graduate in truck repair/mechanics required

EXPERIENCE:

Three years mechanical truck repair experience

Five years good driving record

Supervisory experience preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of mechanical truck repair

Knowledge of bus and driver's safety

Knowledge of E.P.A. guidelines

Knowledge of district discipline policy

Demonstrated mechanical and bus driving skills

Demonstrated written and verbal skills

Ability to work well with students, district staff, and community

Ability to comprehend technical manuals

Ability to drive safely despite noise, distractions, and interruptions while in traffic and within a time frame

Ability to repair a variety of equipment within a deadline despite constant interruptions

Ability to supervise and manage others

Candidates currently enrolled in a vocational/technical diesel or automotive program may be considered for a part-time mechanic position.

HOURS PER DAY: 8

START & ENDING TIME: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM

WORKING DAYS PER YEAR: 260
