The Dentist provides dental services and directs patient clinical examinations of admissions and as indicated, treatment of patient needs.

• Perform and interpret radiographic exams as indicated.
• Provide dental treatment including emergency treatment of teeth and surrounding soft tissues such as oral surgery, restorative dentistry and periodontal therapy within the scope of a general Dentist, including extractions.
• Correct significant oral problems that may adversely affect inmate health when deemed necessary.
• Make proper referrals for procedures that cannot be performed at the facility.
• Report any unusual occurrences or accidents to the site or Regional Medical Director and attend training and meetings as required.

• Maintain a current DEA number.
• Be licensed in the state.
• Fluent in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding.
• Be a supportive team member who demonstrates teamwork and team concepts.
• Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Possess leadership and supervisory ability and work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
