Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
Serve as the Distributed Controls System/Electrical System owner for Dan River CC and Rockingham CT
Provide technical expertise and guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems
Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities
Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
Conduct engineering and related studies and coordinate complex projects
Analyze and recommend business-process enhancements and develop standards
Maintain knowledge of new developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment
Coordinate work activities and maintain accurate records and files
Resolve emergent technical requests
Maintain the plant Risk Grid for assigned systems and equipment
Provide technical support for station-managed Capital and O&M projects
Oversee Outage and Projects Support and COSO projects to ensure scope, design, and stakeholder alignment
Develop scope, technical basis, installation, and testing requirements for design changes involving AC/DC power systems, motors, transformers, switch gear, motor control centers, voltage regulators, breakers, and related equipment
Manage control/electrical system vendor contracts, including on-call support, maintenance, and parts agreements
Support company goals and represent the company positively and professionally
- Associate Degree in Engineering Technology along with 8 years of related work experience
- In lieu of an associate degree in Engineering Technology, High School Diploma / GED and 10 years of related work experience
- Alternatively, 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 10+ years equivalent experience without a degree
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Experience in the utility industry
- Leadership skills in technical project management, program oversight and/or governance
- Project management principles and practices
- Controls systems experience (Ovation, Mark VIE, T3000)
- Combustion Turbine & Combined Cycle experience
- Ability to work with individuals from varied socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future
Demonstrates expertise in Distributed Controls Systems and Electrical Systems, with a strong focus on project management, technical problem-solving, and effective communication. Capable of overseeing complex projects and enhancing business processes within the utility industry.
