This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain branded products. Weil-McLain is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881.
SUMMARY
Welder must be able perform all Welder operations including TIG. They weld all types of materials. Capable of training other associates. Able to troubleshoot detailed issues. Capable of fabricating prototype parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Perform ordinary and repetitive hand welding operations.
- Maintain mechanical strength on standardized assemblies and products.
- May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, or guides.
- Operate welding equipment; regulate current and voltage for proper fusion of metals.
- Select size and type of rod or wire appropriate for metal and welding application.
- Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other wieldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
- Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
- Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- May lead and direct the work of others.
- Perform all Welder operations including TIG.
- Weld all types of materials.
- Train other associates.
- Troubleshoot detailed issues.
- Fabricate prototype parts.
- Modifies or extends written guidelines that do not cover all situations and problems.
- Operates under supervision expressed in terms of goals, priorities or deadlines, but must interpret guidelines, develop plans, and initiate methods to complete assignments.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Contact is routine and primarily with employees in the immediate work unit and/or members of the public in a highly structured situation.
- Usual contact is with individuals or small teams.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- H.S. Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 7 years of experience.
- May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.
SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, & ABILITIES:
- Strong math skills (decimals, fractions, use of calculator).
- Must have advanced knowledge of tooling set up.
- Must have advanced computer knowledge.
- Must be certified to drive a forklift.
- Advanced blueprint reading and mechanical abilities.
- Ability to set up any welder for any part.
- Ability to perform moderate PM procedures.
- Ability to weld all components together to make any part.
- Able to use advanced analytical tools (CMM, hardness testing).
- Able to understand production planning requirements.
- Knowledge of metallurgy and advanced electrical and welding skills.
- Work requires many different processes and methods.
- Work demands great depth of analysis to identity the nature and extent of the problem or situation.
- Moderately strenuous (Often lifts 25-50 pounds).
- Moderate risk (Requires special mitigating precautions and/or personal protective equipment or due to potential risk with machinery or chemicals).
