Job Summary
Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a supportive environment that emphasizes best practices and exceptional customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, relevant Nurse Practice Acts, and regulatory requirements. Acute care settings include medical units, surgical units, emergency departments, intensive care, childbirth centers, pediatric units, operating rooms, and specialized labs.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term goals.
- Apply new knowledge and skills from ongoing education to improve patient care and promote cost-saving practices.
- Make patient care assignments based on nurse expertise, patient acuity, and technical needs.
- Deliver excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and colleagues, embodying core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and courage.
- Communicate proactively to manage patient and provider expectations, ensuring a positive experience through patient rounding, timely responses, and service recovery.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise, using electronic devices appropriately, and supporting healthcare students.
- Prioritize safety for patients, guests, staff, and self by adhering to safety protocols, reporting near misses, and following HIPAA and national safety standards.
- Engage in professional growth through leadership opportunities, certifications, advanced degrees, and participation in shared governance.
- Foster teamwork by motivating and guiding colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and mentoring others.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or, if unaccredited, a minimum of five years acute care nursing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in accelerated MSN programs accepted.
- Completion and maintenance of area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications.
Current active Registered Nurse license as required by the state nursing board.
