Description:

World Language Spanish Teacher

Terms of Employment: 10 Month Employee (temporary if hired after contractual start date for teachers)

Reports to:

Building Principal

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Teacher of World Languages - Spanish Grades K-12
  • Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for secondary Spanish (World Language).
  • Strong content knowledge of secondary Spanish.
  • Successful completion of Praxis

    II exams.
  • Teacher who is designated Highly Qualified in Secondary World Language preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach Spanish to students in grades 6-8
  • Works cooperatively with all staff and parents
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Establish and maintain open basis of communication with students, parents, staff and administration.
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day consistent with contract obligations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
