Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit

A fully staffed cardiovascular surgical intensive care unit (CVSICU) at Edgewood Hospital seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care to patients during the acute recovery from cardiovascular surgery. The position is full‑time, 36 hours per week, with a night shift schedule of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for a 16‑bed unit. The role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, adherence to the highest standards of nursing practice, and compassionate care for all patients, families, and staff.

• Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing clinical procedures.
• Assess patient status and develop individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and post‑discharge needs.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit safety measures.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in the state of employment.
• Meet all state licensure contact hour requirements.
• Proficient in nursing theory, clinical practice standards, procedures, and policies.
• Competent in mathematical calculations for medication administration and comfortable performing safe nursing skills independently.
