Compensation$22.00 - $24.00 per hour – commensurate with experience.
SummaryPerforms all measurements, machine operations, and hand labor associated with package preparation, including, but not limited to, skid construction, box making, box assembly, shrink wrapping, bag sealing, packing, strapping, paperwork preparation, labeling, and product identification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Efficiently uses packaging materials and manpower to pack individual orders to ensure undamaged delivery of a clean, presentable, and correctly labeled product, and efficient use of packaging material and manpower.
- Operates hand trucks and dollies to load outgoing and incoming materials; may use forklift if properly trained and certified.
- Assists in the preparation and maintenance of accurate paperwork on shipping transactions, including daily shipping schedules, receiving reports, packing slips, bills of lading, air bills, and other associated documents.
- Performs proper maintenance and housekeeping of the shipping department area and all equipment.
- Trains new and existing employees on various methods of packaging requirements by customers and shipping products out to customers.
- Gathers preassembled containers, wooden crates, or cardboard to assemble and package the product to include applying strapping if necessary.
- Ensures cartons are properly labeled and marked by applying stenciled or handwritten customer information. This includes identifying the customer name and carton weight on the top of each carton, as well as displaying the order number, customer name, and carton weight on the front of the carton in accordance with established procedures.
- Participates in cross‑training as necessary to support the department's business objectives.
- Consistently maintains a clean and organized work area by using cleaning supplies such as broom, dust mop, and dustpan to clean assigned areas.
- Monitors supplies and reports low inventory to the department Supervisor.
- Maintains "Form B" cleanliness standards.
- Works in a safe manner following all departmental and plant safety rules. Reports any unsafe work conditions to the Safety Manager, supervisor, or management.

Qualifications and Education Required- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Forklift operator's license desired.
- One (1) to three (3) years of prior shipping and receiving experience.
- Prior exposure to the bill of lading, packing list, and other shipping transaction paperwork.
- Prior exposure to box making and/or box assembly desired.
- Previous experience packaging and handling fragile products desired.
- ERP/SAP experience a PLUS!
- Acceptable vision test results (as applicable).
- Must have English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, write, understand, and communicate the company's operating procedures and policies.
