Biomanufacturing of Biopharmaceuticals - Research Internship

Overview

The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM‑CBC) offers a research internship to recent high‑school graduates. The internship is part of the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) program and focuses on deployable biomanufacturing in austere environments.

• Join a community of scientists and researchers to study deployable biomanufacturing technologies.
• Evaluate small, high‑throughput biomanufacturing systems.
• Assess potency, formulations, stability, and encapsulation methods.
• Conduct quality protein product evaluations to validate promising drug candidates.

• U.S. citizen.
• Recent high‑school graduate or current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in biology, synthetic biology, biochemical engineering, or other eligible discipline.
• Clearance through a required background check.

• One year of laboratory experience.
• Experience and/or education in basic molecular and microbiological techniques.

• Stipend of $3,000.00–$4,000.00 per month.
• Health insurance supplement (participants may purchase through ORISE).
• Relocation allowance.
• Training and travel allowance.
