Strategic Sourcing Buyer

Full time salaried position for an experienced Sourcing Specialist in the manufacturing industry.

• Onsite 5 days/week in Edina, MN
• Work authorization status requirements: US Citizen or GC holder

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist plays a key role within the procurement and operations team, combining technical and business expertise to develop and execute sourcing strategies for contract manufacturing, inventory levels, and quality performance. This role partners cross-functionally to ensure cost, supply, and quality objectives are met.

• Lead sourcing and outsourcing activities with contract manufacturers and suppliers
• Collaborate with suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve product manufacturability, cost, and quality
• Identify and implement material cost reductions through negotiations and supplier development
• Support sales and inventory teams to meet custom and quick-ship requirements
• Maintain accurate pricing, inventory data, and forecasts in the ERP system
• Monitor inventory levels, lead times, reorder points, and supplier inventory accuracy
• Communicate monthly cost variances for financial reporting
• Issue and manage purchase orders, change notices, and supplier ECO inventory disposition
• Support first article inspections and ongoing quality issue resolution
• Develop and manage supplier performance scorecards and conduct periodic reviews
• Partner with internal teams and contract manufacturers on continuous and process improvement initiatives
• Travel to domestic suppliers and trade shows up to 15%

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
• 5+ years of experience in purchasing and/or contract manufacturing
• Cross-functional project or commodity management experience
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and bills of materials
• Experience sourcing metals, wood, and plastics
• ERP system experience required (Epicor preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
