Overview
Seeking applicants for Edina Aquatic Center Guest Services positions. Guest Services employees are the friendly and welcoming faces at the admissions and concessions areas. Providing service efficiently, consistently, and politely, this position ensures that each Aquatic Center guest’s expectations are met. Applicants must be comfortable working face to face with customers in a fast-paced, high-volume facility.
Scope of ImpactGuest Services employees will be placed in either concessions or admissions at the start of the season and are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours/week on average and must be 16 years of age or older. The ability to be cross trained and work in both concessions and admissions will be evaluated by facility management at a mid-point of the season.
The expectation of this staff is that they collaborate and communicate in a positive fashion with other facility staff, vendors, and the public, complete their duties at a high standard, and be coachable. This position reports to the Assistant General Manager, and will also take direction from the General Manager, Facility Coordinator, Certified Pool Operator(s), Birthday Party Coordinator, Seasonal Managers, and Early Morning Supervisors.
- Greeting and welcoming all customers
- Operation of Point of Sale (cashier)
- Policy enforcement
- Food preparation and service
- Cleaning and organizing workspace
- Event and rental day-to-day management and turnover
- Party/Group/Rental set up and take down, cleaning, re-stocking, etc
- Re-stocking supplies
- Opening and closing procedures as required
- Trash removal
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- No previous work experience required
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to produce quality, accurate work, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and utilize work time properly and productively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful, and productive working relationships
- Ability to effectively apply cross-cultural communication skills while working with a diverse population, including the public and facility staff
- Confidence in enforcing facility rules, policies and conducting safety inspections
- Model basic professional conduct in the workplace, including respectful communication and civility towards others and the ability to welcome feedback and be coachable
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and ability to motivate themselves and others
- Must be dependable and reliable
- Ability to provide own transportation to and from assigned work location
- Attend mandatory trainings as referenced in the Supplemental Training Information section
- Experience in retail (point of sale and cash handling/deposit procedures)
- Experience in food service
- Experience working with recreation management and employee scheduling software
Candidate must be available to attend and complete training on the following dates/times
- Seasonal Staff Orientation
- May 16, 7-11am
- May 18-June 4, varied times/dates (see training schedule)
This is a seasonal position beginning in May and ending in August. Scheduled shifts include days, evenings, weekends and holidays, with shift start or end times may vary due to facility needs. The maximum number of hours available each week is 40.

- Exerting up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten (10) pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to respond to situations quickly and accurately
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision and peripheral vision
The Edina Aquatic Center is an outdoor facility, requiring work in all types of weather conditions; strong and unpleasant odors and fumes such as chlorine; noise from children; allergens such as pollen and bee stings; pool chemical fluctuations which might cause irritation to eyes and skin; and possibility of administering first aid which may involve exposure to infections leading to chronic disease or death, even blood borne pathogens.
Applicants must be able to perform all essential position functions under the working conditions previously described.
