Physician Assistant – Orthopedics

• Provides clinical care for patients
• Completes comprehensive patient assessments
• Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness
• Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician
• Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment
• Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care
• Refers for specialty care when determined
• Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear
• Participates in health care team
• Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff
• Acts as resource to members of the team
• Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients
• Works with primary care team for program development
• Participates in research activities when opportunity available
• Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed

• Master's degree
• Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program required
• Experience post Physician Assistant training strongly preferred
• Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
• BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support
  - Multisource required upon hire
• ACLS/BLS Tier 2-Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  - Multisource preferred upon hire
• Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required
• Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required

Demonstrates expertise in clinical care, patient assessment, and treatment planning, with a strong focus on collaboration within healthcare teams and effective patient education. Holds necessary certifications and licenses to provide comprehensive medical care and support chronic illness management.
