Overview
Special Projects O&M Technician (Level
3) in the Special Projects division. Work independently in high-voltage environments, leading complex inspections, specialized engineering project executions, advanced troubleshooting, and critical system diagnostics. Own project sites, oversee subcontracted labor, and mentor junior technicians. Clear advancement pathway to Technician IV.
Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
Travel: Up to 75% travel on short notice, including flexibility to work outside traditional business hours.

- Safety & Leadership
- Promote a culture of safety in all special project work; lead by example.
- Safely perform hazardous electrical energy control procedures and select appropriate PPE for each task.
- Create, review, and execute advanced Hazardous Electrical Energy Control procedures, including PLOTO and LOTO plans for management approval.
- Act as work leader for Pre-Job Briefs, Job Safety Analysis, Personal LOTO, and switch plan LOTO.
- Identify, mitigate, and report hazardous situations immediately.
- Special Projects Execution & Maintenance
- Assist the Director, Special Projects in planning and execution, ensuring adherence to procedures, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Lead visual, mechanical, and electrical inspections, testing, and advanced preventive maintenance of PV and energy storage systems.
- Conduct advanced preventive maintenance tasks, including infrared thermography, insulation resistance testing, and I/V curve tracing.
- Conduct on-site work observation, quality assurance inspections, and provide technical direction when required.
- Oversee and support subcontracted labor and junior technicians on-site to ensure quality, performance, and safety standards.
- Diagnostics & Project Support
- Use Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) to identify performance issues and conduct in-depth diagnostics.
- Independently diagnose and troubleshoot complex system, grid integration, and operational issues in 600
Vac and 1500
Vdc environments without direct supervision. - Support tracking of project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and development of technically accurate client proposals.
- Provide input into project budgeting, track expenditures, and communicate project risks with mitigation strategies.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Record and report faults, deficiencies, and nonconformances observed during site activities.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs using the company CMMS with minimal oversight.
- Prepare technical reports, risk analyses, and site performance presentations for management.
- Document time, materials, and travel expenses; guide junior technicians in documentation.
- Learning & Knowledge Sharing
- Stay current with industry best practices, safety updates, and emerging technologies.
- Provide technical guidance, field instruction, and mentorship to junior technicians on-site.
- Contribute to improving training materials and SOPs for clarity and safety.
