The Data Warehouse Engineer L2 supports the development and maintenance of high-performing, highly available applications within the vRad core technology platform. This role is responsible for designing and maintaining a hybrid data architecture that spans Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric (One Lake, Lakehouse, and Data Warehouse). The primary focus is on designing scalable star schema models, optimizing performance for analytics and reporting, and ensuring accurate and trusted data delivery across the organization.

• Build and maintain star schema data models to support Power BI and enterprise reporting.
• Develop, monitor, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines, Notebooks) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Manage structured data layers (bronze/silver/gold) within Fabric Lake houses and Warehouses using Delta Lake and T-SQL.
• Maintain and enforce data governance standards, including data definitions, lineage, quality checks, and documentation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and reusable data assets.
• Work closely with Power BI developers to ensure data models are optimized for self-service reporting and semantic layer integration.
• Monitor pipeline performance, tune SQL queries, and manage workloads across hybrid environments (on-prem SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric).
• Contribute to modernizing legacy data processes and migrating solutions into the Fabric platform.
• Participate in code reviews, QA efforts, and data validation processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Contribute to documentation of data models, pipelines, and definitions in the corporate data dictionary.
• Provide support for production systems as part of an on-call rotation.
• Contribute to project planning by defining scope and providing time estimates.
• Follow vRad’s change management procedures and data governance standards.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to provide input on strategic technology decisions.
• Perform other duties as necessary to support vRad’s success.

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in SQL Server data engineering, data warehousing, or BI development in mid-to-large environments.
• Proficient in T-SQL, including stored procedures, functions, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Understanding of star schema design, dimensional modeling, and data warehouse architecture.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric components (Lake houses, Warehouses, Notebooks, Pipelines).
• Familiarity with One Lake architecture, Delta format, and medallion (bronze/silver/gold) patterns.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, and a basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-server environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work streams concurrently.
• Experience with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS is preferred.
• Knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
• Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server High Availability features.
• Understanding of data privacy and compliance concepts (e.g., HIPAA, PCI, PHI) is a plus.
• Ability to identify root causes and implement durable solutions to prevent recurring issues.
