The Med/Surg-Oncology Unit is a 31-bed adult Medical Oncology Unit and an interdisciplinary team that collaborates to care for a variety of patient populations from acute illness to chronic disease management. The team is committed to delivering exceptional experiences and high-quality patient outcomes.
M Health Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse in our Medical Oncology Unit at Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. Southdale Hospital offers care to people living and working in the southwest Twin Cities metro area, with more than 40 specialty services that balance innovative technologies and treatments with the art of medicine, while addressing the comprehensive needs of patients and their families.
ScheduleThis position is 56 hours per two weeks on the day shift, 8-hour shifts (7am–3:30pm) with every other weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN performs responsibilities in accordance with all policies, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
- Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
- Collaborate with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
- Develop an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
- Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care.
- Demonstrate the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
- Promote a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP).
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- 1 year of experience
