About this UnitHave you ever wondered what it would be like to work on a medical/surgical unit? If so, then the Med/Surg-Medical Unit may be the right fit for you! This 36-bed unit includes 18 telemetry beds and is known for its superb teamwork, learning environment, and sense of family and camaraderie. The patient population on the Med/Surg-Medical Unit consists of Geriatric, Respiratory, GI, and Detox patients.
This unit is widely known for high employee engagement scores, patient and family-centered care, and being a fun and engaging place to work.
- 7 negative airflow rooms to accommodate respiratory isolation.
- Primarily provide inpatient care for adult and geriatric medical patients. Most patients have multiple complex health problems in addition to their admitting diagnosis.
- Most common diagnoses include: pneumonia, GI bleed, COPD exacerbation, CHF, abdominal pain, diabetes with complications, infections caused by resistant and emerging organisms, and renal failure.
This position is 60 hours per two weeks on the night shift, 12 hours (7pm-7:30am) with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
Responsibilities- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
- Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
- Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
- Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
- Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- 1 year experience
