DescriptionThe Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) is the clinical expert and operational lead for the endoscopy procedure room. This position focuses on colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and related GI procedures. The role is responsible for procedure room workflows, endoscopy equipment management, scope reprocessing oversight, staff education, physician collaboration, quality initiatives, and service line development. While reporting to the Pre/Post Nurse Manager, the primary work area and responsibilities are within the endoscopy service line.
The purpose of this responsibility is to provide the best patient care and outcomes at Edina Specialty Surgery Center.
This is a part-time role, .8 FTE, Monday - Friday, four 8-hour shifts per week with one rotating weekday off. No weekends, holidays, or call requirements. Out of our Edina Specialty Surgery Center

Essential Job Functions:
- Provide direct nursing care during endoscopy procedures including patient advocacy.
- Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications for scheduled procedures.
- Responsibilities include delivering high-quality patient care throughout the endoscopy experience, supporting daily operations of the service line, coordinating workflow and quality initiatives, and completing administrative duties associated with the Service Line Lead role. Dedicated administrative time away from direct patient care will be provided to support leadership responsibilities.
- Assist physicians during GI procedures andanticipateprocedural needs.
- Monitor patients and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Collaborate with Pre-op/PACU team to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Provides support, comfort, education and status updates to patient and/or family members
- Develops and provides individualized care based on nursing assessment in accordance with the pre/post-operative plan of care. Reassess and revise as needed.
- Labels and administers medications as ordered and applies principles of aseptic technique, standard and transmission precautions.
- Monitors patients utilizing sound nursing judgment and maintain competent knowledge of equipment based on policies and procedures from patient admission to discharge.
- Follows proper channel of communication and informs department managers of unit activity, patient condition and concerns.
- Complete, accurate, legible and timely documentation of all patient care as indicated per policy.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to maximize patient outcomes and ensure a smooth flow of the perioperative experience.
- Functions within the limits of the MN Nurse Practice Act, State and Federal Laws, the ASC, Pre-op/PACU and OR Department policies and procedures and standards of care.
- Accountable for reporting occurrences through the center’s established reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events.
- Fosters the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, orientees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor).
