REPORTS TO: Transportation Services Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

School van drivers transport students to and from school, as well as to and from special events such as field trips. They are responsible for keeping to a specific route schedule while ensuring passenger safety is the highest priority.

• Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops
• Being alert to traffic and weather conditions to ensure passenger safety
• Regularly checking vehicle safety through pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and consistent monitoring of vehicle condition while driving
• Monthly reporting of fuel consumption and mileage
• Responding to emergency and non‑emergency situations
• Reporting delays, accidents, and emergencies
• Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the van
• Maintaining a clean vehicle, including a weekly washing, sweeping, and dusting

• High school diploma/GED preferred
• Excellent driving skills
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass physical and drug test
• Must obtain required clearances
• Experience working with children preferred
• Patience
• Excellent communication skills
