Scope of Job:
Responsible for fiscal management of externally funded sponsored projects, including account set‑up, closeout, fund reconciliation, and ensuring expenditures are allowable and appropriate.
- Perform compliance reviews and fund approvals of expenditure requests for assigned sponsored projects.
- Provide policy and procedure interpretation to University departments and prepare reports for federal and sponsoring agencies.
- Ensure budget adjustments meet sponsor guidelines.
- Prepare financial reports promptly and accurately.
- Apply understanding of effort reporting and cost sharing regulations.
- Prepare invoices and financial reports, submitting to sponsors after verifying award and institutional requirements.
- Advise sponsored program managers, investigators, and staff on compliance, procedures, account status, termination dates, and fund balances.
- Interpret and administer rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the University and external agencies.
- Guide sponsored program managers and staff on OMB Circulars A‑21 and A‑110.
- Conduct project account reconciliations, monitor indirect cost recovery calculations, and review and approve cost transfers.
- Assist director with special projects and financial reporting tasks regarding sponsored projects.
- Request and post federal funds drawdowns.
- Monitor and collect accounts receivable for sponsored projects.
- Maintain accounting records, ledgers, and reports for assigned projects, reconciling account reports using the University’s accounting system.
- Make accounting journal entries for adjustments or corrections to project accounts.
- Conduct training sessions in the discipline area.
- Provide schedules and reports to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field from an accredited university.

Required ExperienceTwo (2) years of governmental or fund accounting experience.
Preferred ExperienceExperience in sponsored programs accounting, including budget preparation and contract and grant administration.
EquipmentUse of standard office equipment.
Working ConditionsOffice environment; may require some travel and weekend work.
Other RequirementsKnowledge of accounting and budgeting principles, grants management regulations (OMB Circulars A‑21, A‑110, A‑133), customer service, database and spreadsheet software.
