POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinic Office Specialist is a key member of the Physician Practice and provides clinical/administrative expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care.
Qualifications- High School/GED preferred
- Position requires travel; valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are required
- MOS certificate preferred or 2 years experience in a busy office practice in a front desk role
- Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Good written and verbal communication skills required
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
- Minimum of two (2) years receptionist experience preferred in the medical industry or MD office setting
- Previous experience in a high‑traffic medical office setting is preferred
- Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
- Works the reception desk, greeting and communicating with patients and providers
- Works in the call group area as needed
- Schedules, cancels and reschedules patient appointments
- Reminds patients of upcoming appointments and tracks missed appointments, no show and cancellations
- Answers multiple telephones and accurately documents messages
- Forwards telephone calls appropriately and follows up on return calls
- Checks in patients and properly documents registration
- Verifies insurance and patient demographics
- Authorizes procedures, visits or surgeries as needed
- Files or retrieves medical records and delivers to appropriate providers or departments as needed
- Files patient and administrative files
- Copies, scans and performs faxing duties
- Collects co‑pays and cash from patients; obtains authorization on credit cards
- Enters charges, payments and balances the day in the computer
- Provides excellent customer service to all DHR customers
- Other duties as assigned
