Position: School of Art and Design - Lecturer I - One Year Appointment in Visual Communication Design/Graphic Design
The School of Art and Design at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is hiring a One Year Lecturers to start Fall 2025 to teach in its Bachelor's/Master of Fine Arts (B.A./BFA/MFA) program in both campuses (Brownsville & Edinburg). Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university, or local community as needed.

Teaching assignments may include History of Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, Typography, Graphic Design Applications and Digital Imaging. Candidates will be expected to have teaching experience and expertise in at minimum visual communication/graphic design practices. UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley, including but not exclusive to UTRGV campuses in Brownsville and Edinburg.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualifications to be considered for a one-year appointment in Visual Communication Design/Graphic Design is a Master of Fine Arts degree with 18 graduate credits in the specific subject area from an accredited institution.

Required Qualifications

One-year lecturers hired to teach Art Appreciation will be required to attend a training workshop in August (one day) on the use of D2L Brightspace and common online text. Inability to attend training may result in the cancellation of assignment.

Preferred Qualification

Teaching experience is desirable, as well as the ability to use technology to support teaching and learning.

Salary One-Year Lecturers are paid a 9-month academic rate commensurate with experience and/or qualification in the discipline. All positions are subject to budget approval. License or Certification Required? No
