The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley seeks applications for a Lecturer I in Applied String Bass and Music Theory/Ear Training to join the School of Music beginning Fall 2026. Primary responsibilities include teaching Applied String Bass, Music Theory and Ear Training courses, and additional courses aligned with the candidate's experience and expertise, as assigned by the Director of the School of Music.
This position requires close collaboration with School of Music faculty and includes instructional responsibilities on both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses. The successful candidate will carry the standard academic teaching load for a three-year appointment at the Lecturer I rank, equivalent to a 5/5 teaching load.

Minimum Qualifications
MM, or equivalent in music, from an accredited university. Applicants will be considered if the degree will be complete by July 1, 2026.
Discipline Specific
Required Qualifications
Experience performing and teaching String Bass and Music Theory/Ear Training.
Preferred Qualifications
DMA. A record of successful teaching.
License or Certification Required? No Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience. All positions are subject to budget approval. Desired Start Date 09/01/2026
