Reports To: Director of Special Programs
Salary: This is a full-time, twelve (12) month position at 232 days with a salary range from $81,352 - $88,729. This is a grant‑funded position and continued employment is contingent upon grant renewal.
Job Summary (Primary Purpose)The Coordinator of Special Education will provide effective and efficient services to clients and supervise assigned staff. The Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring the team provides support and services to clients in an efficient manner.
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Education/Certificates)- Bachelor’s degree in special education or school administration or equivalent
- Special Education certificate or license (Teacher, SLP, School Psychologist, or Diagnostician)
- Five years of experience in a local education agency, regional education service center, or Texas Education Agency leadership position
- Experience in program development and project management in special education and/or general education programs as an educator, and/or administrator, with quantifiable and clear results for student achievement
- Experience leading collaborative teams and facilitating adults
- Experience in a data driven process that analyzed data effectively to inform necessary change
- Successful experience in effective written and verbal communication, collaboration, and learning from multiple sources paired with the ability to reflect strong leadership capacity
- Experience developing and providing professional development
- Experience supervising evaluation staff and leading evaluation teams
- Master’s degree in special education or school administration or equivalent
- Experience in developing and conducting presentations for small and large groups; strong presentation skills
- Experience in program development and project management in special education and/or general education programs as an educator
- Experience leading collaborative teams and facilitating adults
- Experience working with campus and district administrators
- Experience in a data driven process that analyzed data effectively to inform necessary change
- Successful experience in effective written and verbal communication, collaboration, and learning from multiple sources paired with the ability to reflect strong leadership capacity
- Strong planning, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
- Thorough knowledge of trends, processes, and State priorities in special education
- Thorough knowledge of systematic planning using data to determine needs and results
- Thorough knowledge of current special education Federal/State laws, regulations, and rules
- Knowledge of best practices and current research related to students with disabilities
- Extensive knowledge of best practices in student evaluation and the ability to create meaningful professional development content
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations, rules and state compliance systems
Job Responsibilities /Essential Functions
- Serve as a representative of ESC Region 13, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
- Develop and conduct presentations and training for small and large groups, contract and negotiate with outside consultants regarding needed training, develop needed resource materials related to special education program plans/services, and evaluate training activities using appropriate data collection and analysis procedures
- Provide leadership and supervision to produce products, deliver staff development and technical assistance to ESC Region 13 clients through the process of developing and reviewing program plans and team budgets using appropriate data collection and analysis procedures including student performance, TEA monitoring processes, State Performance Plan, TEA education…
