Teacher w/Offensive Coordinator Supplemental Duties

Position Type:
High School Teaching / General All High School Certifications.

Location:

Vela High School. Length of work year: 10 months. Salary range: $57,300 minimum, $80,668 maximum. Pay grade:
Teacher (Plus 20 extra days).

Reports To: Principal

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provide students with face-to-face instruction in the assigned academic subject area to foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development, including distance or virtual options as needed to accommodate individual needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned.
  • Strong knowledge of the assigned subjects and curriculum.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through distance, virtual, or face‑to‑face learning to fulfill district curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles and needs.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that address students’ learning styles and needs.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students according to Individual Education Plans.
  • Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process and provide blended learning opportunities.
Student Growth and Development
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students and support the district mission.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
  • Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during scheduled conference periods or designated office hours to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents.
  • Communicate daily with all students or parents via Google Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Office 365 Email, or video conference, and maintain a contact log.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Provide ongoing feedback of student achievement through formal and informal methods based on established district grading procedures.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
Other
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
