Intro to Construction Careers Instructor
EEO StatementRetirees of the Texas Teachers Retirement System (TRS) may apply. Selected applicants are required to reimburse the district via payroll deduction for the current rate of all TRS pension and TRS Care surcharges. As of September 1, 2025, the TRS pension surcharge rate is 16.5% and the TRS Care surcharge is $535/month.
Primary PurposeInstruct adult incarcerated students in the technical and soft skills needed to gain entry‑level employment. Direct instruction will include basic safety, introduction to construction math, identification and use of hand and power tools, and a basic understanding of construction. Additional focus will be on classroom and lab instruction in various construction trades.
QualificationsEducation/Certification/
Experience:
- High School Diploma from an accredited high school, or hold GED equivalent.
- Five years full‑time wage‑earning experience in construction or a related field within the last ten years.
- Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis with a maximum substitution of four years.
- Windham School District must issue a statement of qualification verifying work experience.
- Position requires personal technology that will enable completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
