Scope of JobGraduate Teaching Assistant. Duties include providing timely written and evaluative feedback on student work, monitoring/proctoring course activities, co‑leading discussion and/or workshop sessions with the guidance of the professor, providing office hour assistance to students, and performing clerical and other tasks associated with course instruction and department activities. Additional responsibilities include weekly meetings with supervisor(s)/teaching mentor(s). GTAs must take a related pedagogy course listed in the MFA degree plan or as approved by the department chair and complete all required trainings for UTRGV employment, including Brightspace trainings.
Minimum Qualifications- Currently admitted to the MFA program at UTRGV Graduate School.
- Be in good academic standing.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher appropriate to the area of service.
- Be registered full‑time for the respective semester – nine (9) semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine (9) semester credit hours during the spring semester, or three (3) semester credit hours during the summer session, or be registered in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements of the degree plan.
