Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher appropriate to the area of service
  • Have successfully completed eighteen (18) hours of graduate course work in the assigned teaching discipline
  • Be registered full-time for the respective semester – nine (9) semester credit hours during the fall semester, nine (9) semester credit hours during the spring semester, or three (3) semester credit hours during the summer session or be registered in the required number of semester credit hours to fulfill the only remaining requirements of the degree plan
Scope of Job
  • General classroom management
  • Assist instructor with both online and traditional face‑to‑face classes
  • Attend sessions and fulfill assignments made by instructor
  • Meet regularly with instructor and provide office hours for students
  • Maintain attendance records, grading assignments, and exams
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned by instructor
  • Willing to work at either campus assigned based on department needs
Discipline Specific

Required Qualifications
  • Submit with application a letter of intent, a resume and a list of three references
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
  • Obtain effective communication skills for interacting with prospective students
  • Must possess superior writing and editing skills
  • Reliable to work at Edinburg or Brownsville campus to support traditional face‑to‑face classes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full‑time graduate student with GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Minimum requirement would need 18 earned hours of graduate coursework in History in addition to other enrollment requirements
  • Students pursuing a MA in History or MAIS in History will be given priority
