Part‑Time Lecturer – Student Teaching Supervisor
Scope of Job:
We seek applicants dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s student body as a Part‑Time Lecturer – Student Teaching Supervisor of Teaching and Learning for the 2025‑2026 academic year. The Department of Teaching & Learning at UTRGV occasionally needs Part‑Time Lecturers to supervise during the school day teachers for undergraduate teacher preparation programs starting Fall 2025 through Spring 2026 Semester.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver quality instruction within the respective programs.
- Provide guidance and support of the clinical teacher and cooperating teacher during school hours (8:00 am‑4:00 pm); observe, assess, and evaluate clinical teachers during school hours.
- Communicate and provide feedback to clinical teacher and cooperating teacher.
- Participate in all clinical teaching program assessments.
- Complete and collect all required documentation.
- Support cooperating teacher in completion of required performance evaluations, time log approvals, candidate dispositions, etc.
- Maintain open and continuous communication with the Office of Field Experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least three years of teaching experience in PK‑12 schools.
- Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or another teacher‑related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of students from all populations.
- Knowledge of state curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy standards.
- Current certification in the class in which supervision is provided.
- Must demonstrate English proficiency per Texas law (TOEFL/IELTS).
- Field supervisor shall be an accomplished educator as shown by student learning and must be conscientious with meeting deadlines.
Salary:
Part‑time Lecturers are paid per course taught commensurate with experience and/or qualifications.
