Scope of JobThe UTRGV School of Medicine seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to teach Biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics. Experience teaching in an LCME‑accredited medical school is preferred. The chosen individual will assist in implementing a vertically and horizontally integrated curriculum that utilizes active, team‑based, problem‑based learning, a flipped classroom, and self‑directed study.
Minimum Qualifications- Terminal degree (Ph.D. or M.D.) or equivalent with post‑doctoral experience in the area of expertise.
- Experience teaching in an LCME‑accredited medical school.
Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper‑based test score of 500 (computer‑based 173 or internet‑based 61) on the TOEFL or a satisfactory score of 6.0 on the IELTS. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. The position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. The position is security sensitive and is subject to Texas Education Code § 51.215. Retirement options include the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) for positions at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of 135 days, or an optional retirement program for positions at 40 hours per week with the same minimum days.
