Applicants will serve the diverse student body of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as a Lecturer of Chemistry beginning in the 2026‑2027 academic year. The position is primarily based at Brownsville Campus and will involve teaching undergraduate, high‑enrollment introductory courses in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. The lecturer may also be required to teach online or hybrid courses and to travel to other campus locations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- M.S. in Chemistry or a related area from an accredited university.
- For consideration as Lecturer II: three years of experience as a lecturer or equivalent college‑level teaching position.
- For consideration as Lecturer III: six years of experience as a lecturer or equivalent college‑level teaching position.
Required Qualifications
- Commitment to Teaching Excellence and the ability to meet SACS‑COC and other accreditation requirements.
- Experience with evidence‑based teaching, learning strategies, and the use of instructional technology.
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues to enhance student success.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field (or equivalent graduate-level education).
- Teaching experience in undergraduate Chemistry courses, especially General Chemistry or Organic Chemistry.
- Experience working with underrepresented students.
Teaching: Deliver semester‑long introductory courses, implement innovative pedagogy, document learning outcomes, and participate in curriculum development.
Service: Provide faculty service to the university and community as required. Formal scholarship expectations are not established, but engagement in scholarly activity is encouraged.
Salary & Benefits- Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Eligible for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) if the position totals at least 20 hours per week and 135 days. An optional retirement program (ORP) is available for full‑time (40 hours) positions of at least 135 days.
