Provide students with appropriate face‑to‑face instruction in mathematics to foster their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Facilitate the development of competencies and skills necessary for success in society and, when required, offer distance or virtual learning options to accommodate individual needs and ensure continuity of instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. - Certification:
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned. - Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Knowledge of mathematics curriculum, general curriculum and instruction, ability to instruct and manage behavior, strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through distance, virtual, or face‑to‑face learning to fulfill the district’s curriculum program and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles and needs.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and equipment reflecting students’ learning styles and needs.
- Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students per IEP guidelines.
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen teaching/learning and provide blended learning opportunities.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
- Be a positive role model and support the district’s mission.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during scheduled conference periods or office hours to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents. The rest of the day is dedicated to planning, preparing, online staff development, virtual campus/district meetings, ARDs, and lesson evaluation.
- Communicate daily with students or parents via Google Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Office 365 Email, or phone/video conference and maintain a contact log.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers; maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly, and provide ongoing feedback on student achievement through formal and informal methods per district grading procedures.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and documents required.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on required staff committees.
- Perform all duties safely to avoid injury.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Supervise assigned teacher aid(s).
