- SALARY RANGE: $56,812 Minimum – $81,751 Maximum;
PAY GRADE: SO3
REPORTS TO: Campus Principal

Primary PurposeTo provide a proactive developmental guidance and counseling program for all students to maximize academic, career and personal growth. This also includes teaching the Abstinence curriculum.
Qualifications- Education/Certification
A master’s degree in counseling from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas counseling certificate - Special Knowledge
Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents or guardians, and district staff - Experience
Three years teaching experience required

- Program Management
- Plan school guidance and counseling programs to ensure that identified objectives are met.
- Develop, coordinate and continuously evaluate the overall effectiveness of the guidance program.
- Educate the school staff, parents and community about the guidance services via meetings, school newsletters, and presentations.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records and documents.
- Work hand in hand with Social Workers and CPS to better assist students and families.
- Guidance Curriculum
- Plan, organize, implement, and deliver structured group lessons according to the district's guidance curriculum.
- Teach guidance curriculum components using effective instructional strategies for diverse student populations.
- Collaborate with staff, parents/guardians, and the community to identify priorities for the guidance curriculum.
- Create a balanced curriculum with intentional activities and materials, incorporating guest speakers and technology tools.
- Responsive Services
- Use developmental guidance theories and respond to problematic incidents; provide services as needed.
- Provide preventative activities to remove barriers to student development.
- Implement remediation practices and guide future decisions; support students in crisis with immediate response.
- Maintain a healthy school environment and provide ongoing support through counseling, consultation, or referrals.
- Serve as an impartial resource for interpersonal conflicts and bullying.
- Individual Planning
- Develop developmentally appropriate counseling services and provide information to students, teachers, and administrators.
- Assist students and families in monitoring academic, career, personal, and social development.
- Advocate for diverse, equitable access and placement in courses and programs.
- Interpret standardized test results and offer career development guidance.
- System Support
- Collect, summarize, and interpret testing data to plan interventions and address student needs.
- Participate in program audits and school improvement planning.
- Provide training and consultation to parents/guardians and staff to support development.
- Coordinate resources and an effective referral process; assist with RTI components and special programs.
- Coordinate STAAR assessments and Gifted and Talented program identification, and other assessments.
