Provide students with appropriate face‑to‑face instruction in the assigned academic subject area to foster their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Facilitate the development of competencies and skills necessary for success in society. Additionally, offer distance or virtual learning options when required to accommodate individual needs and ensure the continuity of instruction.
Qualifications- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university; valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.

Skills:
Knowledge of subjects assigned; general knowledge of curriculum and instruction; ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities, including distance, virtual, or face‑to‑face learning, to fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and provide written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles and needs.
- Present subject matter in accordance with Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, materials, and equipment that reflect students’ learning styles and needs.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students per Individual Education Plans.
- Coordinate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to enhance teaching/learning and provide blended learning opportunities.
- Student Growth and Development
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the school district’s mission.
- Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Communication
- Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during scheduled conference periods or office hours to communicate with district personnel, students, and parents. The remainder of the workday is dedicated to planning, preparing lessons, online staff development, virtual meetings, IEP meetings, implementing and evaluating lessons and activities.
- Communicate daily with students and parents via Google Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Office 365 Email, phone, or video conference. Maintain an ongoing contact log.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Provide ongoing feedback on student achievement through formal and informal methods.
