We seek applicants dedicated to serving the student body of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as a Part‑time Lecturer of Writing and Language Studies starting in the 2026‑2027 academic year.
The Department of Writing and Language Studies at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley occasionally hires Lecturers to teach in its First Year Writing Program. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction within an innovative and award‑winning program that offers summer bridge courses and first‑year courses focused on reading, inquiry, writing, and rhetoric. The position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Minimum QualificationsA master’s degree from an accredited institution in English or a related discipline with at least 18 graduate hours in Rhetoric & Composition, Writing Studies, Technical Communication, Linguistics, Creative Writing, Curriculum & Instruction, or Literature.

For faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency as determined by a satisfactory paper‑based TOEFL score of 500 (computer based 173 or internet based 61) or a satisfactory IELTS score of 6.0.
