Salary Range: $57,300 - $80,668 (Pay Grade: TCH)
Primary PurposeProvide students with appropriate face‑to‑face instruction in the assigned academic subject area to foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Facilitate the development of competencies and skills necessary for success in society, and offer distance or virtual learning options when required to accommodate individual needs and ensure continuity of instruction.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Instructional Strategies:
- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through distance, virtual, or face-to-face learning to fulfill district curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles and needs.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of student learning styles and needs.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to strengthen teaching/learning and provide blended learning opportunities in the classroom environment.
- Student Growth and Development:
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsor outside activities approved by the district.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
- Classroom Management and Organization:
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Communication:
- Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing during scheduled conference periods or designated office hours to confer with district personnel, students, and parents. The rest of the workday is committed to planning, preparing, online staff development, virtual campus/district meetings, ARDs, and evaluating lessons and activities.
- Communicate daily with all students or parents via Google Classroom, Google Meet, Microsoft Office 365 Email, or phone or video conference; maintain an ongoing contact log.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Provide ongoing feedback of student achievement through formal and informal methods on mastery of lessons per district grading procedures.
