Scope of Job

We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's diverse student body as a Lecturer in the Marketing Department beginning in the  academic year.

The Department of Marketing serves almost 700 undergraduate marketing majors, the Masters in Marketing program, the MBA program with specializations in marketing, and the doctoral program with a concentration in Marketing. The Robert

C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship offers a supportive environment focused on student success and on elevating the academic reputation of the college. We seek a new colleague who is a dedicated and excellent teacher focused on student success, preparing exceptional business professionals, and who will continue the tradition of improving the social mobility of our students. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated success in the classroom who possess strong presentation, quantitative/analytical, and classroom‑management skills.

A lecturer is expected to teach up to nine courses per academic year. The selected candidate is expected to teach a variety of marketing courses primarily in a face‑to‑face environment, but also potentially using other delivery modes as required. The successful candidate is also expected to play a secondary role in service activities in the department such as committee work.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Marketing/Business Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant industry work experience.
  • Desire to work collegially with faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Qualification
  • Prior successful teaching experience. Please provide detailed evidence of student evaluations, including student comments as part of your application package.
  • Significant industry work experience.
  • Evidence of community involvement, such as participation or leadership in a professional society.
Salary

Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.

Additional Information

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
