Scope of Job
To assist in the operation of a program or multiple projects within the Office of the Dean of Students ( DOS ), exercising independent judgment and authority as required. Responsible for all phases of the program, including budget recommendations, program selection, staff supervision, recommendations for future planning, and innovation.
Description of Duties
- Coordinates program activities and operations to ensure implementation is carried out in accordance with specified objectives, including SGA meetings, trainings, retreats, leadership development programs, elections, special events, and signature initiatives.
- Supervises and manages the day-to-day activities and personnel of the assigned program.
- Develops and supervises the implementation of multiple projects or programs, including leadership development initiatives, student internship programs, student engagement activities, and related funding processes.
- Participates in budget planning and is responsible for controlling expenditures in accordance with budget allocations for the program and university policies.
- Assists students in understanding university policies, shared governance structures, parliamentary procedure, and SGA governing documents.
- Assists SGA officers and members with planning, communication, project tracking, and implementation of goals.
- Conducts formal training, transition planning, and onboarding for student leaders; provides instruction regarding program policies and procedures; and ensures compliance with university policies, procedures, and SGA governing documents.
- Promotes professionalism, accountability, inclusive leadership, ethical decision-making, and effective communication among SGA members.
- Supports programming, student engagement opportunities, and operational functions for the DOS office initiatives.
- Develops marketing, outreach, and communication efforts to promote the DOS office and SGA programs, services, and leadership opportunities.
- Coordinates long and short-term programs, including performing feasibility studies and estimating program costs.
- Represents department in official functions.
- Reviews program records, rosters, reports, forms, correspondence, and other documentation related to SGA operations; evaluates program effectiveness and recommends modifications to methods, procedures, and processes as needed.
- Drafts brochures, letters, agendas, websites, social media content, and contracts in collaboration with University Marketing.
