DIRECTOR ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER
/ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ACADEMIC ADVISING CENTER
Responsible for providing overall leadership and strategic direction for and management of the Academic Advising Center. Coordinates strategic and proactive university-wide academic advising initiatives which promote retention and timely progress to degree. The primary emphasis will be on ensuring the delivery of consistent and highly effective academic advising experiences for all undergraduate students by fostering a strong and collaborative institutional advising network that is responsive to student needs and designed in accordance with best practices.
Description of Duties
- Directs the daily operations of the Academic Advising Center.
- Develops and implements proactive advising strategies that improve student success, retention, and timely progress to degree.
- Leads and develops a diverse team in a fast-paced environment, managing performance, resolving conflict, and fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensures advising practices remain responsive to emerging trends and evolving student needs.
- Builds and sustains effective partnerships across divisions, departments, colleges/schools, and the community to integrate advising and student success initiatives into a seamless student support experience.
- Partners with Student Success and campus leadership to engage stakeholders in the development and execution of strategic advising priorities.
- Communicates relevant institutional priorities, initiatives, policies, and practice changes to key stakeholders.
- Oversees staff recruitment, training, development, and evaluation in alignment with system, state, and national standards for high-quality advising.
- Tracks, analyzes, and reports data to identify student needs, barriers to success, and opportunities for improvement.
- Establishes effective data collection, analysis, and reporting practices to assess outcomes, guide resource allocation, and inform the strategic direction of undergraduate advising.
- Optimizes technology to strengthen academic advising, student persistence, and timely degree completion.
- Allocates and manages financial, human, technology, and space resources to achieve established goals.
- Manages expenditures for assigned university and grant accounts and ensures compliance with applicable requirements.
