We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's student body as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the UTRGV UTeach program in the College of Sciences, preferably beginning in the Spring 2027 semester. Responsibilities involve teaching and/or supervising undergraduate students in courses and field experiences related to pre-service teacher development. Primary responsibilities include teaching field-based courses which students take in their pursuit of teacher certification, working with local area public school administrators who accept students for field experiences, working with local area public school teachers who serve as mentors for the students, and conducting field observations of the students.

Additional duties include student mentoring, induction support, and other program related tasks and service activities.

The position is for a three-year appointment, renewable based on performance.

. UTRGV UTeach is a middle and high school mathematics and science teacher preparation and certification program that promotes inquiry-based learning and instruction. Weprepare highly skilled, inspiring educators with deep subject expertise through integrated and cohesive coursework with early and consistent community-based teaching experiences. UTRGV UTeach isone of the largest UTeach programs in the nation, and as of December 2025, we have produced 550 highly prepared STEM graduates,an estimated 90% of whom entered the teaching profession.
