Scope of Job:

To plan, develop, and execute initiatives and projects designed to improve academic/learning outcomes for students in the assigned discipline(s). Responsible for coordinating and carrying out the day-to-day activities of assigned initiatives or projects, identifying relevant stakeholders and collaborative partners, and making recommendations for future planning and innovation.

Description of Duties:
  • Serves as part of a Student Success interdepartmental team todevelop and implement high-quality initiatives or projects to improve academic/learning outcomes in the relevant discipline(s).
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders and partners to promote the mission, goals, and objectives of the related Student Success unit(s) and departmental partners.
  • Researches local, state, and national trends in higher education to guide work and identify best practices for the development and improvement of student learning and academic success in relevant discipline(s).
  • Collects and analyzes departmental student performance data to recommend modifications and facilitate future planning and innovation.
  • Provides feedback to faculty and Student Success stakeholders on assignment design and educates campus partners on best practices in instruction, feedback, and assessment.
  • Organizes, supports, and/or, when appropriate, leads faculty,staff, and tutor development workshops based on student and faculty needs.
  • Organizes, leads, or supervises relevant seminars, workshops,and presentations for different student populations.
  • Compiles and develops resource materials based on student and faculty needs. Researches and utilizes appropriate technologies tosupport improved learning outcomes.
  • Maintains, prepares, and submits a variety of records and reports, including researched initiative and project proposals,initiative and project participation and attendance, presentation and workshop outlines and materials, and assessment measures and outcomes.
  • Engages in on-going professional development and training as required by the relevant Student Success unit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
  • General supervision from assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given:
  • Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited university.
Preferred Education:
  • Master's degree in a related discipline from an accredited university.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • None.
Required Experience:
  • One (1) year of experience working with student populations in a higher education setting, OR
  • Six (6) months of experience working with student populations in a higher education setting and a Master's degree in a related discipline.
Preferred Experience:

Experience in teaching, tutoring, or presentation and workshop design and implementation; experience working with bilingual students; experience performing tasks related to the duties stated.

Equipment:

Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. General office, classroom, or outside environment. Some travel, weekend, and/or evening work may be required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Initiatives or projects may require local or distant travel.

Other:

Knowledge of how to work with diverse student populations; ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students, and the public; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to manage time effectively and balance projects; proficiency in computer applications, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat; and strong collaboration and teamwork skills. Must demonstrate effective project management skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relations with internal and external partners.
