Position Summary The Electrical Engineering Technician/QA provides technical support during construction through review of electrical designs, contractor submittals, shop drawings, and installation activities. The selected individual will work closely with project stakeholders to ensure electrical systems are installed in accordance with approved documents and project requirements. The role combines aspects of a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, and Quality Assurance Inspector.
Primary Responsibilities
- Technical Review Review electrical drawings and specifications for constructability and coordination. Evaluate contractor submittals, shop drawings, product data, calculations, and equipment packages. Review Requests for Information and provide technical recommendations. Assess proposed equipment substitutions for compliance. Review testing and commissioning procedures.
- Construction Support Participate in design coordination meetings. Support installation planning activities. Monitor contractor compliance with approved submittals. Assist with startup and energization planning.
- Quality Assurance Conduct periodic field inspections of electrical installations. Verify installation of conduit systems, cable trays, switch gear, transformers, motors, controls, and instrumentation. Review contractor testing documentation. Track deficiencies and support closeout inspections.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. Minimum five years of experience supporting industrial, utility, manufacturing, federal, or heavy commercial construction projects. Experience reviewing electrical equipment submittals and technical documentation. Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, medium-voltage distribution systems, motor control centers, and industrial control systems.
